NOWATA, OK —
Alec Brand batted in seven runs to help Adair outgun Nowata, 18-10, in six innings Thursday.
The Warriors (4-2) scored nine runs in the top of the sixth inning and held off a Nowata rally for the win.
Brand went 3-for-4 at the plate, and teammate Cody Yoder went 3-for-4 with three RBIs.
Sophomore Cody Eby allowed six hits and struck out three Ironmen. He also went 3-for-6 with a double and two RBIs.
Adair was set to take on Locust Grove in a cross-county game Friday, but it was rained out. Adair's home opener is set for Saturday at noon against 3A No. 1 Verdigris.
Salina splits first day at Oologah
OOLOGAH — Salina went 1-1 on its first day of play at the Oologah Tournament Thursday.
The Wildcats (4-3) dropped an 11-5 decision to Cascia Hall but took a 9-1 win over Sallisaw to even their tournament record.
Salina was scheduled for a doubleheader against two of Class 4A's top-10 teams, No. 1 Berryhill and No. 10 Vinita, Friday.
Chouteau ices Braggs, 4-1
OKAY — Chouteau improved to 11-1 Thursday with a 4-1 win over Braggs in the Okay Tournament.
Doug Mynahan (3-0) threw a complete game two-hitter. Mynahan, a senior, struck out nine Braggs batters in seven innings.
Tyler Blalock went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs.
Chouteau will play Hulbert at 6 p.m. Saturday in a final round game.
