Locust Grove honored its seniors at senior night by pounding Wagoner 91-44 Friday.
Every player on the Pirates’ roster scored in the season high game.
Four players scored in double digits.
Senior David Stone led the scoring frenzy with 20 points. 15 of Stone’s points came from five shots beyond the arc.
Junior Taylor Halpain made three from downtown to end the game with 13 points.
Senior Reed Bryant also scored 12 and sophomore Colton Pike accounted for 10.
Head Coach Ronnie Maple was impressed with his team’s offense performance.
“We scored 18 points in the first quarter,” Maple said. “It’s just odd that David Stone comes out and misses his first three shots. When that happened I was kind of nervous, but then he drove in and shot a little short jumper that got him going. From that point on everybody was just draining threes.” The Pirates found the bottom of the net 11times from three-point range.
LG also played solid defense, managing to steal the ball 11 times as a team.
Stone, Halpain and freshman Jason Pirtle had two apiece.
LG also shot an impressive 75 percent from the freethrow line as a team. Small forward Reed Bryant went 6-6 from the stripe.
The Pirates play at Ft Gibson Monday night, after its blowout victory.
Maple is anxious to play the 6-ranked Tigers.
“I’m just ready for Monday,” Maple said. “We’re going to take our Locust Grove bus down there and play them and see what happens.” The Pirates will roll into Ft Gibson on a four game winning streak and a top 20 ranking.
