LOCUST GROVE — The Lady Pirates lost their third straight game Friday night at home to Miami.

LG lost in a back-and-forth 46-44 ballgame. The first period ended with a 13-13 tie, but the Wardogs stepped up in the second period in order to obtain a 29-18 lead at the half.

Locust Grove came out firing in the second half.

Sophomore Kennedy Sokoloski made a short jumper, and then sophomore Madison Davis found the bottom of the net from long range to shorten the lead to six.

The Lady Pirates slowly began to come back in the third.

Junior Bailey Holman started the fourth with a big three to tie the game at 35.

After three lead changes in the period, the Wardogs maintained a small lead until the end.

Head Coach Justin Brown is keeping his head up after three losses in a row.

“You just hit the highlights, try to look at the positive aspects of it, and move on and get ready for the next game,” Brown said. “There’s not enough time to worry about last game, so we have to move on.

Sophomore Kennedy Sokoloski stepped up and played hard for the Lady Pirates before rolling her ankle midway through the fourth period. Sokoloski came out of the game with 11 points and two steals.

Junior Bailey Holman also played solid offense scoring 15 points to lead her team. Sophomore Madison Davis scored nine while handling foul trouble through the game.

Locust Grove will play at Salina Monday night to try and end their losing streak. Locust hasn’t had any problems with Salina thus far in the season.
