LOCUST GROVE — Adair moved to 9-4 Friday after defeating Grove 53-49.

The win ended an Adair three-game losing skid.

The two teams were neck-and-neck in the first quarter.

Seniors Brady Bradbury, Jordan Fleming and freshman Cody Eby hit shots from long-range to help give the Warriors a three-point edge to end the first quarter.

Bradbury shook a Grove defender, almost out of his shoes, to start the second before finishing near the rim for two points while fouled.

He continued to own the the second quarter, dropping 10 more before halftime.

The Warriors aggressive defense forced Grove into bad shot selection.

Adair headed to the locker room up 32-18.

Though Adair handled Grove’s press efficiently in the third, the Ridgerunners began to claw their way back in the fourth.

Late in the quarter, the Warriors found itself down by two points.

Adair Head Coach Travis Cannady looked to his bench for some needed defense as the game remained close.

“Michal Boriak and Brock Martin did a great job defensively for us to secure the win,” Cannady said.

We knew we had to get on them defensively and keep them from running a delay-game offense. We got a little winded late in the game but our guys came through when it counted. Fleming had 19 points, but his aggressive defense was a major factor in the outcome.”

Bradbury led scorers with 29.

Adair faces an inter-county rival in Chouteau Saturday at 5:30 p.m. The teams are .500 against each other this season.
