Chouteau vs. Kansas: Round 2

ADAIR — Wes Reynolds

Sports Editor

The Chouteau Wildscats will get a second shot at knocking off the  Kansas Comets on the road Friday, Jan. 4.

The first matchup between the two teams resulted in a two-point loss for the Wildcats, three games into the season.

Chouteau has gone 3-4 since the loss, while Kansas has put together a 4-1 run.

The two teams records thus far in the season tell different stories (Chouteau 4-5, Kansas 7-1), and common opponent-outcomes suggest the second showdown could be as close as the first, depending on which Chouteau team shows up.

Against Adair, Chouteau has won by 10 and lost by five, while Kansas beat the Warriors by five.

Chouteau handed the Warriors their first loss of the season on their home court the first time around.

Against Jay, Chouteau escaped with a 2-point win, and Kansas pummeled the Bulldogs 66-35 last week.

The Wildcats are coming off a hard-fought overtime win at Salina, a young team struggling to put victories in their win column.

Kansas is averaging 61.9 points per game, and the Wildcats are not far behind with 56.8.
