INOLA, OK —
Tahlequah Sequoyah got 18 points from Zach Parish and fended off a Pryor rally to stuff the Tigers, 61-55, in the Jerry Oquin Tournament consolation final Saturday.
Pryor (1-3) was led by Robert Ross and Tyler Arnold, who each poured in 17 points.
The Indians led the Tigers 17-16 late in the first period before an 11-0 Sequoyah spurt pushed its lead to 28-16 two minutes into the second quarter. The 12-point margin was its largest of the game.
Anthony Martinez connected on two triples in the fourth quarter to bring Pryor within three points, but Sequoyah made good use of its free-throw opportunities late in the game.
Martinez finished with 10 points and three assists.
BJ Leach chipped in 14 points for Class 3A's No. 5 Sequoyah, which took home a fifth-place trophy.
Spencer Henson scored five points and grabbed eight boards off the bench for Pryor, one shy of Parish's game-best nine rebounds.
Oologah slams Tigerettes
INOLA — Emily Pashley and Courtney Sappington combined for 45 points to drive Oologah past Pryor 82-40 in the Jerry Oquin Tournament seventh-place game Saturday.
Pryor fell behind 43-20 at the half and could not recover.
The Tigerettes (0-4) were led by Sammy Gordon's season-high 16 points. Ofy Chavoya added six, and Alyissa Harry and Amanda Green each punched in five.
