Wrestling Roundup: Yeager rolls at Geary

GEARY, OK — In the most prestigious regular season wrestling tournament in the state, Locust Grove wrestler and future Wyoming Cowboy Cub Yeager made waves with a 2-0 decision in the 132-pound final of the Geary Tournament Saturday.

Yeager stopped University of Oklahoma signee Jacob Rubio of Amarillo (Texas) Randall in the title bout, Yeager's second Geary Tournament title in as many years.

Class 4A No. 8 Locust Grove finished in tenth place with a team score of 48.0. Class 6A powerhouses Broken Arrow and Edmond North took the top two spots with 149.5 and 147.5 points, respectively. Class 4A's top-ranked Tuttle finished third with 111.5 points.

Patterson claims Inola title

INOLA — Salina's Cullen Patterson claimed the 120-pound title at the Inola Tournament over the weekend, helping the Wildcat wrestlers to an 11th-place finish.

Patterson pinned Sperry's Brodie Marney in the championship bout.

Patterson's teammates Damon Stitsler (152 pounds) and Trey Pritchett (285) each pinned opponents (Broken Arrow's Dalton Sheffield and Jay's Caleb West, respectively) to take home consolation titles.

Jay claimed the tournament title with a 205.5 point total. Sperry (185) finished second and the Broken Arrow junior varsity and Barnsdall each racked up 151 points for third place.

Salina scored a team total of 88.5 points.

Litke takes third at Jenks

JENKS — Pryor's Logan Litke took a 3-0 decision over Mike Gundiach of Moore to grab a bronze finish in the 113-pound weight class Saturday at the Larry Wilkey Invitational at Jenks.

Litke's was one of four top-six finishes for the Pryor squad. Cody Foos won a 14-8 decision from Sapulpa's Josh Keigley in a 132-pound fifth-place bout.

At 145 pounds, Kelvin Grubbs dropped a 7-5 decision to Jake Pattinson of Jenks in a fifth-place match. Coweta's Bear Hughes pinned Pryor's Chase Biggs in 1:54 in the fifth-place match at 152 pounds.
