TULSA, OK —
The Adair girls lost their first game of the Tournament of Champions – and their first of the season – Saturday, a 48-39 decision at the hands of 6A No. 5 Norman North in the tourney title game at the Mabee Center.
Freshman Keni Lippe scored a baker’s dozen to lead theLady Warriors (7-1), which came into the tournament ranked first in Class 3A.
Adair tied the Lady Wolves at 16 before North’s Paige Canty scored five points to give her team a 21-16 lead heading to recess. North would not relinquish the lead, which reached 12 in the second half, though Adair would slice it to six in the fourth quarter.
Junior Kylie Looney was the only other Lady Warrior in double-figure scoring, with 11.
In a Friday semifinal against 6A No. 8 Sapulpa, Rendi Rogers scored 14 points, including 4-for-4 from behind the arc, to lead Adair to a 51-35 win.
Looney notched 15 points, including nine in the first quarter, which the Lady Warriors won 17-6. They would head into the locker room with a commanding 31-12 advantage.
Lippe added 11 points, and Molly Kerr pitched in six.
In Thursday’s opening round, Adair used a 14-1 run in the second quarter to vanquish 4A No. 2 Weatherford, 68-54.
Lippe scored 18 of her game-high 20 points in the second half to help the Lady Warriors pull away. Looney added 19 points, including a half-court heave to close the first half.
