SALINA, OK —
Salina running back duo Bret Fite and Jon Parsons were named District 2A-8 co-offensive players of the year, while teammate Ashton Gann was named defensive player of the year by the district coaches.
Parsons, Fite and Gann, all seniors, led Salina to a 9-3 record and a second-round appearance in the state playoffs.
Parsons racked up 15 rushing touchdowns on the season. Fite added seven.
All-purpose junior Kyle Johnson was named special teams player of the year. Johnson kicked three field goals and returned one punt for a touchdown. On offense, Johnson ran for four scores and caught a touchdown. He also returned an interception for a touchdown.
Commerce running back DC Chance was named the district player of the year. His coach, Steve Moss, was named coach of the year.
