3A splits with Claremore; 2A sweeps Carthage

CLAREMORE - The Pryor 3A Tigers put on an offensive show Monday night in Claremore, beating their rival 15-5.

Ben Jacks got Pryor on the board in the first with a 2-RBI single, driving in Rhett Eichelberger and Blake Heston.

Claremore tied the game up in the second with two runs of their own. Pryor responded with five in the third. Tatyn Fee knocked in Jacks with a single. Christian Doty grounded out to short, but it was enough to score another run. Justin Odle drove in another run with a

RBI single. Eichelberger brought in the final two runs of the inning with a triple.

Claremore cut the lead to 7-4 in the fourth with two more runs. Eichelberger brought in another run in the fifth with a sacrifice fly pushing the lead to 8-4.

The Zebras added a run in the bottom of the inning, but Pryor put the game out of reach in the top of the sixth. Chris Ashley hit into a fielder’s choice, but the runner reached home for the first of the inning. Johnny Whisman drew a bases loaded walk in the next at bat. Two more runs came in on the next at bat on an error. Jacks hit another two RBI single two batters later. Fee got another RBI with a single, to bring the score to 15-5.

Jacks finished out the game in the sixth. He pitched the entire game and struck out six.

The Tigers lost their

second game 13-3. Whisman was 2-for-2 in the game. Fee got the loss on the mound. The split dropped Pryor to 11-4. Pryor is off until next week when the 3A League Tournament starts in Claremore.

PRYOR - The 2A Tigers got a sweep of Carthage, Mo. The Tigers won 15-2 and 3-2.

In the first game, Pryor scored four in the second and nine in the third to take the early 13-1 lead. The Tigers scored two more in the fourth to put the run-rule into effect.

Austen Brooner hit his second home run of the season and collected four RBIs. Dalton Murphy was 2-for-2 with four RBIs. The other RBIs were by Zekke Stump, Gabe Littlefield and Sam Jacks.

Gabe Littlefield got the win, going four innings and striking out four to improve 3-1.

Carthage jumped out to 2-0 lead in the second game, but Pryor finished the game with three runs to grab the come from behind win.

Ryan Hendricks, Shane Holloway and Zekke Stump each had one RBI in the game.

Stump pitched five innings and struck out six. Murphy pitched the sixth inning and recorded the win.

The win improved the Tigers to 14-2. They host Sapulpa Thursday. Those games begin at 5:30 p.m. The 2A and 3A Tigers are sponsored by Mayes County Petroleum and Sharp Motors.
