Tigers blow out Wagoner in two game sweep

Kenny Howell
Staff Reporter

PRYOR - The 2A Pryor Tigers made short work of Wagoner Tuesday, winning 10-2 and 11-0.

In the first inning, Pryor got two runs on passed balls.

In the second, Shane Holloway knocked in Chris Ashley with a RBI single, which was

followed by three more runs on passed balls. Christian Doty capped off the scoring in the inning with a sacrifice fly.

Doty struck again in the third when he hit a two RBI single to push the lead out to 9-0.

Wagoner was finally able to get something going in the fourth, when they got back-to-back RBI singles to cut the lead to 9-2. The Bulldogs then held the Tigers scoreless in the bottom of the inning.

In the top of the fifth, the Bulldogs were able to get a man to second, but relief pitcher Holloway got a strikeout and a groundout to end the inning.

Holloway then started the bottom of the fifth with a single, followed by a Hunter Wood double. Doty walked, and Austen Brooner hit a sacrifice fly to put the run rule in effect.

Dalton Murphy got the start and struck out five while only giving up two hits in four innings of work.

In the second game, Pryor shut out Wagoner, 11-0. Gabe Littlefield got the win to improve to

1-1.

The 2A Tigers are sponsored by Mayes County Petroleum and Sharp Motors. They will travel to Joplin Thursday for a 1 p.m. game.
