3A Tigers get one win at Joplin Tournament

JOPLIN - Hunter Wood threw a complete game one-hitter, and the 3A Pryor Tigers shut out Bolivar, Mo., 8-0, Saturday.

It was a 1-0 game to the start the fifth, but Pryor opened the flood gates,

scoring four in the fifth, and three in the seventh.

Rhett Eichelberger collected two RBIs on 1-for-3 hitting.

Eichelberger had a double and two stolen bases.

The other RBIs were by Dalton Murphy, P.J. Stimson, Christian Doty and Shane Holloway.

Wood struck out eight over seven innings. Wood is 1-0 for the 3A team.

Carthage, Mo. scored two runs in the sixth, and held on to victory over Pryor, 6-4, Saturday.

Carthage jumped out to a 4-0 lead after two innings, which held until the fifth.

Pryor had a four-run fifth that tied the game again.

Carthage sealed the deal with the two-run sixth.

Blake Heston was 1-for-2 with two RBIs.

Murphy had the other RBI.

Chris Ashley pitched 5.1 innings and only gave up four hits.

Ashley got the loss.

The Pryor 3A Tournament starts Thursday.

The 3A Tigers go into that with a 6-3 record.

The Pryor 3A team is

The 3A Pryor Tigers

suffered a 6-1 loss to Pittsburg, Kan. in the opener of the Joplin Tournament Thursday.

The game was tight until the sixth inning when Pittsburg scored five runs to close out the game.

Pittsburg struck first in the second with a run, which Pryor matched in the fourth on a Tatyn Fee RBI.

Fee had two of Pryor’s five hits.

Fee also did well on the mound, giving up only one hit until the five-run sixth by Pittsburg.

Ashley relieved him and helped stop the rally.
