NORMAN — When Oklahoma State starting quarterback Wes Lunt went down on the first drive of Saturday’s game against Louisiana, backup J.W. Walsh took it as an opportunity to showcase his ability to lead the Cowboys.
And lead them, he did. Walsh was 21 for 30 (70 percent) for 347 yards with four passing touchdowns.
Walsh also had six carries for 73 yards rushing with a QB scramble for a touchdown.
Lunt’s injury was being reported by FSN, which broadcast the game, as a dislocated kneecap and the true freshman could be sidelined for two or three weeks.
