Funeral services for Opal Laverne Clark, 93, Pryor, are Wednesday, Feb. 27, 10 a.m., at Westside Free Will Baptist Church. Pastor Andy Nichols will officiate and burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Pryor. Services are entrusted to Stephens Memorial Chapel.
Clark was born March 10, 1919, in Haskell, to Allison and Eller (Elmore) Taylor. She died Feb. 23, in Pryor.
Clark graduated from Glenpool High School. She moved to Pryor in 1956. She was a homemaker and was married to Charles Clark on June 30, 1968, in Pryor; he preceded her death on March 29, 2012. She attended the Westside Free Will Baptist Church. She was a devoted Christian and always participated in church activities. In addition to being a homemaker, She had worked at Osage School cafeteria for 10 years. She enjoyed sewing and was very good at making doll clothes. Her family was her world and she was “mom” to anyone that needed her help.
She is survived by one son, Don Lewis and wife Telia of Pryor; grandson Shane Church of Pryor; granddaughter Candice Belew and husband Bobby of Pryor; eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Mary Schiffner of LaHoma.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Minnie Taylor Mainard, Robert Taylor, Ted Taylor, Tessie Taylor Wall, Effie Taylor Ledbetter, Clarence Taylor, Retta Taylor Kilgore and Arthur “Ott” Taylor.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, Feb. 26, from
6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Stephens Memorial Chapel.
