Carl Eugene Copeland, 66, died Thursday, in Muskogee. Copeland was born Dec. 15, 1964, in Iron Post, to Paul and Eva Louise (Davis) Copeland.
Growing up, he attended school at Iron Post and Locust Grove Schools. He had worked for the Pryor Foundry, retiring after 30 years of service. On September 28, 2008, in Pryor, Carl and Janet Ramsey were united in marriage.
Copeland had attended the Iron Post Free Holiness Church and had been a longtime member of the Locust Grove Roundup Club. He enjoyed buying, trading, selling, and riding horses. He liked to go skiing and boating. He also enjoyed camping and being outdoors. He loved vacations with his family, especially four wheeling trips. He loved family get-togethers and spending time with his loved ones.
Carl is survived by: his wife, Janet Copeland of the home; one son, Marc Copeland and wife Pam, of Locust Grove; one gran-daughter, Jessica Copeland of Locust Grove; three sisters, Reba Downing, of Skiatook, Frances Dennis and husband Bob of Tulsa, Mary Coger of Locust grove; five brothers, Henry “H.D.” Copeland, of Locust Grove, Lucky Copeland and wife Quen, of Tulsa, Billy Ray Stipes and wife Ruth, of Peggs, David Dilley and Charles Dilley, both of Tulsa; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a community of friends.
Copeland was preceded in death by: his parents; his grandparents, George and Annie Copeland; 1 sister, Carolyn Copeland; and 1 brother, Robert Copeland.
Funeral services are 11 a.m., Monday, at the Iron Post Free Holiness Church in Locust Grove. The Rev. Travis Martin will officiate. Interment will follow at the McClain Cemetery in Locust Grove. Full military honors will be rendered by the Grove Military Funeral Honors Team from Grove. Services have been entrusted to the Locust Grove Funeral Home.
