Visitation for Harvey Wayne Adams, 89, Pryor is Wednesday, March 20, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Key Funeral Home in Pryor. Arrangements are under the direction of Key Funeral Home in Pryor.
Funeral services and visitation will also be held in DeKalb, Ill., at Anderson Funeral Home on Friday, March 22, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Private family burial will be Saturday, March 23, at 9 a.m. at Fairview Park Cemetery in DeKalb.
Adams was born on May 17, 1923 in Volga, Iowa, to Walter Franklin and Viola Elizabeth (Carpenter) Adams. He died Monday, March 18, in Inola.
Adams grew up and attended school in northeast Iowa. He was the fourth child of six born to a farming family. His family moved around often when he was a child to find work. He and Dorothy Mae Ewing were married on July 7, 1944, in Arlington, Iowa. They made their home in Sycamore, Iowa, where he worked for General Electric for 33 years. He retired in 1983, then he and Dorothy moved to Pryor in 1985. Adams was of the Baptist faith. In his younger years, he enjoyed camping and fishing, metal detecting and traveling. He was an avid collector of Mickey Mouse memorabilia and coins. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Dorothy of the home; four children, Dale L. Adams and wife Sherri of Plantation, Fla., Kevin L. Adams and wife Betty of Tulsa, Greg A. Adams and wife Janice of Pryor and Sharlene D. Adams-Bruce and husband Steve of Huntsville, Ala.; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one brother Bill Adams of DeKalb, Ill. as well as many nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and infant son, an infant great-grandson, two brothers and two sisters.
