The Pryor Times
Memorial services for Elizabeth “Betsy Ann” Gaither, are 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 20, at Life Fellowship Church in Pryor. Services are entrusted to Stephens Memorial Chapel.
Gaither was born Dec. 25, 1937, in Pryor, to Carl Roy and Elizabeth “Betty” (Hillin) Gaither. After a courageous struggle with Parkinson’s disease, she died March 17 at Claremore Nursing Home at the age of 75. Not many people are born on Christmas Day and die on St. Patrick’s and have a life celebration on the first day of spring, while awaiting Easter.
She was a lifetime resident of Pryor. She served as an administrative assistant in Richardson Bank and Trust, Richardson, Texas and at the University of Texas at Dallas. Her last position prior to retirement was with Air Gas in Pryor. She attended Life Fellowship Church and was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution (Osage Hills Chapter). She loved reading, was an avid game player and quite competitive when playing Gin, Bridge, Mahjong and/or “Spoons.” She enjoyed her time in the Church Bell Choir and attending opera performances with her cousin Ed Ben McCollough.
Gaither survived by daughter Kimberly (Anderson) Sherrod and husband Stephen Sherrod and one grandson, S. Taylor Sherrod, all of Tulsa; sister Carla Sue (Gaither) Jeffrey and husband Dr. Lee Jeffrey of Ft. Collins, Colo.; nephews Craig Jeffrey of Ft. Collins, Colo. and Scott Jeffrey of Bozeman, Mont. She is also survived by Judy Shrum Tollefson her other “sister” and Janie Swan Jacks her long-time childhood friend. She was preceded in death by her parents.
