Funeral services for Mae Jean Blackwell, 79, Pryor, are 10 a.m., Friday, at Key Funeral Home Chapel in Pryor. The Rev. Thomas Ballard will officiate. Graveside services are 2 p.m. Friday at Park Grove Cemetery in Broken Arrow. Viewing hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and visitation is 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday. Services are under the direction of Key Funeral Home in Pryor.
Blackwell was born Jan. 10, 1933 in Mason, Texas to Arno Otto and Bertha (Standke) Mueller. She died Sunday.
She grew up and attended school in Mason, Texas graduating from high school in 1951. She moved to Corpus Christi, Texas where she worked at an abstract and title company. She met Gerald Blackwell and they were married on Nov. 3, 1954 in Mason, Texas. Jerry was a career Navy man so they traveled around and lived at various naval bases until he retired in 1969. After Jerry retired, they moved their family to Tulsa where they lived for three years. They moved to Pryor in 1972 where they raised their family. Blackwell was a homemaker with lots of school activities with her kids. She was a housekeeper and cook who knew how to make her family and friends always feel warm and welcome at her home. She was a devoted wife, mother and friend. She never failed to find the good in a person and was a great example of love and compassion to her friends and family. She will be missed by all who shared in her life.
She was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Pryor.
She is survived by one son, Jerry Wayne Blackwell and wife Linda of Chelsea; two daughters, Gay Lynn Brower and Phillip Perez of Tulsa, Gina Epps and husband Tim of Pryor; one stepdaughter, Jerri Lynn Seibert of San Antonio; six grandchildren, Jerrod Brower and wife Heidi, Felicia Shelley and husband Paul, Jaela Brower, Tiffany Epps, Treyce Epps and Zachary Seibert; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Kenneth Paul Mueller and wife Grace of Brady, Texas; one sister-in-law, June Blackwell of Drumright, several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1995, two infant children, one brother and one sister.
