Debra Kay “Katie” Smith

PRYOR, OK — Debra Kay  “Katie” Smith was born on Sept. 20, 1951, in Tahlequah, to Lee Samuel and Ethel Virginia (Taylor) Littlefield. She died Saturday, Feb. 23, in Tulsa, at the age of 61.

Smith attended school in Tahlequah, graduating with the class of 1968.  She went on to earn her certification from Bacone College as a registered nurse. On March 25, 1969, in Stilwell,  Katie and Tommy Lee Smith were united in marriage. The couple had been married for over 43 years.

Smith lived most of her life in the Peggs area. She attended the Peggs Community Church. She worked in nursing for 40 years. She was a loving person always taking care of and helping people. She enjoyed cookouts and going to the creek. She was always on the go with her sister Connie.  She loved to check out yard sales. She loved to laugh and was always joking and cutting up. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and her family. 

Smith is survived by  her husband Tommy of the home; three children,Jeffrey Smith and wife Tonya of Locust Grove, Ginger Coverdell and husband Chuck of Locust Grove,  and Kyle Smith and wife Pam of Denison, Texas; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandson; two brothers, Sammy Littlefield and wife Margaret of Peggs, and Ken Littlefield of Peggs; two sisters, Connie Bolay of Peggs and Mickie Garner and husband Johnny of Locust Grove; two brothers-in-law, Teddy Smith and wife Rhonda of Spokane, Wash. and Robert Smith and Judy of Park Hill; one sister-in-law, Mary Lou Cole and husband David of Moody; special friends Marsha and Jim Forst of Catoosa; uncle Terry Taylor of Tulsa; aunt Geraldine Bradshaw of White Salmon, Wash.; great aunt Wilma Cole of Chouteau; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.

Smith was preceded in death by her parents Lee and Virginia Littlefield,  son Samuel Ted Smith, sister-in-law Debra Sue Smith, mother-in-law: Imogene Johnson and father-in-law Ted Smith.

Funeral services were 2 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 27, at the Peggs Community Church, in Peggs. The Revs. Mike Parrish and Rex Hendrickson officiated. Interment followed at the New Home Cemetery in Peggs.   Services were entrusted to the Locust Grove Funeral Home.
