Oliver E. “Kag” Johnson, 89, died May 16, 2013, after a long illness. He is preceded in death
by his parents, George and Flossie Johnson, sister Lorene, and brother Everett. Johnson is survived by his wife Joan of 67 years; three sons, Bruce and wife Suzanne of Tulsa, Brian and wife Denise of Norman, and Brent and wife Katie of Pryor; and five grandchildren, Sarah Praizner and her husband Mike, Katie Johnson, Ian Johnson, Zachary Johnson, and Kylie Johnson. He is also survived by his brother Robert C. Johnson of Broken Arrow.
He spent his all of working life operating heavy equipment in Green Country construction projects. He was known as an expert in operating climbing tower cranes. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. After retirement, he became an avid golfer.
Johnson served bravely in the Marines during WWII, seeing fierce combat as US troops secured the Marshall Islands, Tinian, and Saipan.
A celebration of Johnson’s life is 10 a.m. Monday, May 20, 2013, at the Heritage Baptist Church in Pryor. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Heritage Baptist Church, Pryor, general fund.
Services are under the direction of Key Funeral Home in Pryor.
