Obituary- Ray

PRYOR, OK — Funeral services for Jerry Dennis Ray, 71, Chouteau, are Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2 p.m., at Stephens Memorial Chapel. Chaplain John Vanamin will officiate and burial will follow at Chouteau North Cemetery.

Ray was born Dec. 19, 1942, in Chouteau, to Joe and Hettie (Flint) Ray.  He died at home after a lengthy illness on Feb. 15. He was 71.

He was a lifetime resident of Chouteau and graduated from Chouteau High School with the class of 1961. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in Thailand with the United States Air Force from 1963 to 1967. He married Sharon Brannon on June 10, 1969 in Pryor. He worked at Pryor Foundry as a pattern repairman for 28 years he was employed there from the time it opened until it closed. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Chouteau. He liked jig saw puzzles, especially 3-D puzzles, crosswords, fishing and guns.  He liked to watch old westerns on TV, OU football and golf.

He is survived by wife Sharon of the home; son Todd Ray and wife Sheri of Pryor; daughter Amber Rice and husband Fred of Chouteau; three grandchildren, Tyler Ray and Samantha Ray of Pryor and Sierra Rice of Chouteau; two sisters Peggy Roberts Henry of Chouteau and Lenore Gabbard and husband Ray of Benton, Ark.; one brother Jack Ray and wife Sue of Langley; special cousin Jim Nofsinger of Chouteau and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Jim Ray and Bob Ray and niece Jamie Gabbard.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, Feb. 18,  from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Stephens Memorial Chapel.
