Obituary- Willis

PRYOR, OK — Robert "Bob" Eugene Willis was born Sept. 25, 1926, in Vera, to Arvel Luther and Altie Pearl (Mize) Willis.  He died Wednesday, March 5, 2014, in Claremore.

Growing up, he attended schools in Vera.  He served his country in the United States Army.  He was a part of the first infantry in Korea.  In 1943, in Reno, Nev., Robert Eugene Willis and Bessie M. Melton were united in marriage.  She preceded Bob in death on July 31, 1953.

Willis owned and operated his own trucking business for several years.  On April 10, 1955, in Wagoner, he married Erma Louise Hinton.  She preceded him in death on Feb. 15, 1991.

He worked as a bus mechanic and driver for Locust Grove Public Schools for 15 years, retiring in the 1990s.  He enjoyed going four wheeling and taking care of his garden, especially onions.  He  also enjoyed welding.  He enjoyed attending the Locust Grove Senior Citizens Center and was a part of the Car Club of Locust Grove.  

Willis is survived by five children; Dickie Willis and wife Loy of Locust Grove,     Carol Heiner and husband Larry of Sullivan, Mo.,        Richard Roach and wife Pam of Locust Grove,         Bruce Willis and wife Malynda of Locust Grove,  and        Elena Vap and husband Les of Edmond; five grandchildren: Dani Tyree and husband Michael of Sullivan, Mo.,     Kim Drury and Brant of Minko,    Nathan Willis and wife Lucinda of Locust Grove,  Garrett Willis and wife Christi of Dallas, Texas, and         Allen Willis and wife Heather of Locust Grove; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one sister: Norma Young and husband J.B. of Tecumseh; and     one brother,  Jimmy Willis of Inola.

Willis was preceded in death by his parents;  first wife  Bessie M. Willis; one son, Louis Gene Willis; second wife, Erma Willis; one great grandson, Zane; four sisters: Lucille, Lorene, Barbara, and Luella; and two brothers: Ernest and Richard.

Funeral services are 10 a.m.,  Saturday, March 8, at the First Free Will Baptist Church in Locust Grove.   The Rev. Jeff Blair will officiate.  Interment will follow 10 a.m., Monday, March 10, at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa.  Services were entrusted to the Locust Grove Funeral Home.  To leave thoughts, memories, or condolences visit
