Obituary- Cooper

PRYOR, OK — Ina Mae Cooper was born Aug. 2, 1930, in Locust Grove, to William Rass and Margaret (McClain) Keener.  She died Friday, Oct. 25, in Chouteau. She was 83.

She attended the Ballou School. She married James Ray Cooper on Nov. 1, 1949, in Locust Grove. She lived most of her life in the Locust Grove area and had worked as an activity director at the Parkhill East Nursing Home in Locust Grove for over 17 years. She was known as a hard worker and a dedicated homemaker.

Cooper attended the Cedar Grove Church in Locust Grove. Along with her family, she loved singing for the Lord at different gospel singings, church gatherings, or social events. She loved to talk in her native Cherokee. She enjoyed being outside gardening, tending to her flowers, relaxing while sewing and fishing. Most of all, she loved her family and friends dearly, and will be missed by all that knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband of over 63 years, James Ray Cooper of the home;

daughters Beverly Ansorge and husband Mike of Chouteau, Debra Ferguson and husband Glenn of Locust Grove; brothers William R. "Junior" Keener and wife Debra of Inola, Gary Keener of Locust Grove; sisters Rose Stamper and husband Billy of Locust Grove, Gladys Stokes and husband Art of Siloam Springs, Ark.; daughter-in-law: Jeannie Cooper; 10 grandchildren, Zachary Ansorge, Tim Leach, David Leach, Eric Cooper, Jerry Dry, Kevin Dry, Ricky Cooper, Michael Cooper, Tamara Rohman and Monica Cooper; 15 great-gandchildren; one great-great granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son James Ray "Bump" Cooper, Jr., brothers John Fog Keener, Sr. and Simon McGann and sister Carol Blackwell.

Funeral services are

2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1,

at the Cornerstone Outreach in Locust Grove. Pastor Sampson Leach will officiate. Interment will follow at the McClain Cemetery in Locust Grove. Services have been entrusted to the Locust Grove Funeral Home. To leave thoughts, memories, or condolences visit
