Obituary- Holman

Funeral services for Bill Holman, 86, Locust Grove are 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug.  20 at the First United Methodist Church in Locust Grove. The Rev. Cydni Tillery will officiate with burial following at Hogan Cemetery in Locust Grove. Visitation is  6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19 at Key Funeral Home in Locust Grove.

Billy Lee Holman was born on May 27, 1927 in Locust Grove to Jesse and Annice (Ford) Holman. He died Aug. 16, 2013 at his home in Locust Grove.

Holman grew up in Locust Grove. At the age of seven, he began working with his dad who was a blacksmith, standing on a wooden Coke crate to reach. He met Katherine Conrad and the two were married on July 18, 1945; he was 18 and she was 15. After they married, he moved to Oregon to work, then after saving up money for a train ticket, she surprised him and joined him. They lived there a few months, then after the war they moved back to Locust Grove where they have lived ever since. He worked various jobs including installing acoustic ceilings, carpentry and plumbing and wiring new homes. In the early 80s he opened an electrical and plumbing shop in Locust Grove and in the 90s it became Holman Manufacturing. He and Katherine had three sons and they all worked in the family business and to this day, they still own and operate it. Over the years Holman and his wife loved to travel. They took trips to the California coast, the east  coast and  Alaska.

He is survived by  three sons: Johnny Holman and wife Carol of Locust Grove, Jimmy Holman and wife Roseann of Chouteau and Sidney Holman of Pryor; eight grandchildren: Leslie, Tanya, John Eric, Heath, Brannon, Clint, Derrick and Kari Ann; 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, Kelsey Holman of Locust Grove; one sister, Margie Holman of Siloam Springs, Ark.; and a host of other extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Katherine in June of 2012 and six siblings: Betty, Alta, Thelma, Barbara, Norma and Eleanor.
