Obituary- Helton

PRYOR, OK — Doris Louise Helton, 81, Adair, died Friday, Feb. 21, in Tulsa.

She was born on Nov. 19, 1932, in Mayes County, the daughter of Clarence E. Ragsdale and Ethel I. (Kating) Ragsdale. She attended school in Adair and Chouteau, later attending college and obtaining her teaching degree.  She married her first husband, Kirby Stricklin, who preceded her in death, on Nov. 24, 1967.  She later married Wayne Helton on Aug. 12, 1972, west of Adair.  He preceded her in death on June 16, 2013. She was a member of the Adair United Methodist Church. She loved to sew, making beautiful quilts for her loved ones. She enjoyed being with her family and friends. She loved her Lord and her large family, leaving many wonderful memories and a Christian legacy for her family to cherish.

Funeral services were Monday, Feb. 24, in the Adair United Methodist Church with Pastor Dylan Ward officiating. Interment was in the Adair Cemetery with Jason Stricklin, Eli Stricklin, Matt Stricklin, Shawn Stricklin, Danny Ragsdale and Doug Ray serving as casket bearers.

Helton is survived by her children, Kerry and wife Janet Stricklin of Mustang, Roger Stricklin of Pryor, Michael and wife Kathy Stricklin of Weedsport, N.Y.; grandchildren Jason, London, Eli, Matthew, Hannah, Emily, Bethany, Shawn, Stevan and Christopher; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Leo Ragsdale of Pryor; sisters, Ava “Sue” Ray and husband, Jack of Pensacola, Linda Jaggers of Pryor; many other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her first husband Kirby Stricklin, second husband Wayne Helton daughter Coral Ann Jones, granddaughter, Bethany Stricklin, brothers Bob Ragsdale and Raymond Kating, sister Peggy Dunham, parents Clarence and Ethel Ragsdale.
