PRYOR, OK —
Jim Wilson, 88, Pryor, died Tuesday, Sept. 24, Pryor. He was born on Dec.12, 1924, at home in the Rocky Ford area, the son of Steve and Annie (Youngbird) Wilson. He married Pauletta Colter on Feb. 9, 1946, in Mayes County. She preceded him in death on Aug. 20, 1995. He worked in management for Georgia Pacific in Pryor, retiring in February of 1987. He was a member of the Pryor Odd Fellows Lodge and a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Pryor. He enjoyed carving, fishing and reading. He was proud of his Indian heritage. He was past vice president of the Tri State Gospel Singers. He was an avid OSU fan. He was a Godly man who loved his Lord, his family and his many friends. He will be greatly missed.
Funeral services are Friday, Sept. 27, 2 p.m., in the First Free Will Baptist Church with the Revs. Thomas Ballard, Ray Gwartney and Glenn Lewis officiating. Interment will follow in the Graham Memorial Cemetery with Mike Helvie, Terry Gwartney, Kevin Dotson, Jim Bradley, James Hester and James Mote serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers are Jim Holder, Quinton Gwartney and Gerald Manley. Visitation is 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. this evening at the funeral home. Wilson is survived by his daughters, Darla Lane of Broken Arrow and Patty and husband, Ralph Birkenfeld of Pryor; five grandchildren, Cindy and Brian Stone of Woodward, Jimmy Lane, Kristin and Kevin Speakman, Ryan and Karly Birkenfeld, Kyle and Ginger Birkenfeld; seven great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Pauletta Wilson, parents Steve and Annie Wilson, brother Wesley Wilson, sisters Mary Tucker and Betsy Wolfe.
