PRYOR, OK —
Bonnie Rea Proctor was born in Bergman, Ark., on Sunday, May 12,1912, to Los Angeles and Jane Freeman DeRieux.
She died on Friday, Oct. 25. She was 101. At 17 months old, the family moved to Christie where her dad was the section foreman for the Frisco railroad. Her parents later built a home in Proctor and Bonnie and her younger sister Louise went to school and grew up in Proctor.
She was saved at a revival at the Baptist church by the Proctor Cemetery when she was 12 years old. She was soon baptized in the creek. She grew up with and met her future husband. Earl Proctor. in Proctor. They were married on April 23, 1929, in Westville. She was 17 years and 11 months old and he was 22.
Their son Daniel Lee Proctor was born one day before her 20 birthday, May 11, 1932. Six years later, June 30, 1938, a baby girl was born. Danny got to name her and he chose Peggy Jean. The family moved several times but eventually settled in Pryor.
She worked part-time for Stripling Cleaners and the bus station. She sold Avon for 40 years. After her husband died in1975, she dedicated her life to her prayer group and attended Lakeview Baptist Church. Nana, as she was later called, loved making family feel welcome. She was a wonderful cook and loved cooking for the family holidays. She adored her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and at 100 years old could remember the names of her great-great -grandchildren. She was the matriarch and her home was the hub for her family. She was a prayer warrior and prayed for and extended kindness to her family and her friends.
She is survived by son Dan and Mary Proctor of Owasso; granddaughters Donell Wilson and husband Randy of Broken Arrow, Anita Langley and husband Russ of Adair; grandson Allen Proctor and wife Cindy of Claremore; nephews L.A. And Patsy Proctor, Shannon Greg Proctor; nieces Nancy Hinkel, Pam Bryant, Vickie Wilber; great-grandchildren Rusty and Amy Langley, Rachael and Colby Cunningham, Chris and Lauren Wilson, Catherine Wilson, Amber and Will Edwards, Tony Proctor and Aren Proctor; Great-great-grandchildren Major, Clancy, Reagan, Carter, Emmett, Claire, Eli and Owen; close friends Jim and Ruth Lamb, Ellavee Lawrence, Fran Trout, Margaret Shearer, Vickie Scott, Pam Morgan, Donna Rupe and a host of other close family and friends. She was preceeded in death by her husband of 46 years, Earl L. Proctor, daughter Jean Proctor Sessions, granddaughters Leah Ann Proctor and Roshelle Wilson, sister Louise Proctor. Graveside services were Tuesday, Oct. 29, at Graham Memorial Cemetery. Randy Wilson officiated.
