Elaine L. Miller, 90, died Jan. 18. She was born July 8, 1922, in Norfolk, Neb. She was raised in Nebraska and after graduating from high school, in support of the war effort she ventured to the Portland, Ore., shipyards to become a “5 plate welder” and assist in building ships for the U.S. Navy. She came to Oklahoma in 1945.
Miller was a devoted wife, sister, mother and grandmother. Her hospitality and great cooking drew many to her table over the years. She was always busy with crafts, crocheting, poetry and music. Her passions were family, friends, crappie fishing and bird watching.
She retired from Grand Valley Respiratory Department.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wren and Alheida Cranford; her beloved brothers, Wren and Rex Cranford, the father of her daughters, DeWayne Casey and her husband of the home, George “Short” Miller. She is survived by her daughters, Gloria Woolery and Kathleen Lukos and husbands Roger Woolery and Will Lukos; grandchildren, Lyndee Waller and Matthew Geatches; five great-grandchildren, Corey Crawford, Nichole and Michael Williams, Elayna and Charlotte Geatches; four great-great-grandchildren, Jadyn, Mylee and Nathaniel Pena and Peyton Williams; her beloved nephew, Ernest Casey and wife, Sally; many other relatives and friends.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Claremore Nursing Home and Evergreen Hospice for their tender care of Miller and for their comfort to the family.
