Obituary- O'Bar

PRYOR, OK — John Austin O’Bar, 69, of Pryor, died Saturday, Dec. 28, in Tulsa. He was born on Oct. 6, 1944, in Paris, Ark., the son of Thomas D. O’Bar and Deba (McVay) O’Bar.  He married Wathenia “Tina” Faulkner on Jan. 31, 1969 in Pryor. He drove a truck for Hamill Trucking for many years. He had a near perfect driving record for over 42 years of driving, with only one parking ticket and one seat belt ticket. He was a man of few words, but was the solid rock of his family. He loved his family and loved the time he spent with them. He drove trucks nearly all his life. He grew up loving horses and rodeos. He competed in calf roping events when he was in his late teens and early twenties. He was honest to a fault, a hardworking loving man who leaves this world much better than he found it.

Graveside services are Tuesday, Dec. 31, 3 p.m., in the Old Adair Cemetery with the Rev. Francis Berka officiating. The family asks memorials be made to the Wild Heart Ranch, P.O. Box 170, Foyil, OK 74031 or The American Cancer Society in his memory. To leave a personal message to his family, visit www.shipmansfuneralhome.com. Arrangments are under the direction of Shipman’s Funeral & Cremation Service.

He is survived by his wife, Wathenia “Tina”; his children, Brian O’Bar of Broken Arrow Karen and husband, Floyd Langley of Adair; three grandchildren, Alexis Schroeder of Adair, Joshua and Jacob O’Bar of Broken Arrow; one step-grandchild, Kaity Langley of Adair; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Deba O’Bar, brothers Mack, Leroy and Alton.
