Funeral services for Brandy Sylva, 39, Pryor, are 10 a.m. Friday, July 5 at Key Funeral Home Chapel in Pryor. Rev. Robert Killman will officiate with burial following at Fairview Cemetery in Pryor. Viewing hours are 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 2 and Wednesday, July 3 at Key Funeral Home in Pryor. Services are under the direction of Key Funeral Home in Pryor.
Brandy Danielle Sylva was born on Jan. 3, 1974 in Tulsa to Gary Michael and Cora Charlene (Bouchereau) Garland. She died June 26, 2013 in Tulsa, after a three year battle with leukemia, at the age of 39.
Sylva grew up in and attended school in Pryor from Kindergarten to third grade, then her family moved to Anchorage, Ala. where she attended school and received her GED. She later completed the Certified Nursing Assistant program in Anchorage and worked as a licensed CNA. She and Donny Sylva met and had a son, Cody, in 1993 and later moved to Pryor in 2001. They were married on Jan. 1, 2001 in a small ceremony in Pryor. They made their home in Pryor and later had twins, Keeleyanna and Phillip in 2003. Sylva worked for a veterinary clinic in Tulsa briefly, and then got a job at St John’s Hospital in Tulsa where she worked as a unit-clerk. She was in an auto accident in 2003, before her twins were born, and after the accident was unable to work then became a full-time wife, mother and homemaker. She enjoyed reading, sewing and doing crafts.
She was diagnosed with leukemia three years ago and has fought a long hard battle. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother and friend.
She is survived by her husband Donny; three children Cody Lawson, Keeleyanna Sylva and Phillip Sylva all of the home; mother Charlene Conn of Pryor; two grandmothers Louise Evan and Leona Garland both of Pryor; three siblings; and numerous extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father; paternal grandfather; and maternal grandparents.
