Graveside services for Mark Dixon will be Thursday, at New Home Cemetery in Peggs. Pastor Stew Henderson will officiate. Dixon died Nov. 27, in Vinita. Services are under the direction of Key Funeral Home in Pryor.
Dixon was born on Feb. 14, 1955, in Tulsa to Carson Jack and Iva Kanzada (Merrell) Dixon. He grew up and attended school in Owasso, graduating from Owasso High School in 1975. He attended Claremore Junior College for a year and later OSU in Stillwater. After college, he started working for O’Reilly Auto Parts and lived in Sand Springs; he worked at several different O’Reilly stores then moved to Vinita about 20 years ago and was currently working there. He had a 30-year career with O’Reilly and loved his job very much.
Dixon was a simple man who enjoyed drag racing, building dragsters, working on cars, metal detecting, programming police and emergency scanners and CB radios. He was a quiet person who mostly stayed to himself and he loved animals.
He is survived by his parents Carl and Iva Wheeler of Pryor; brother Brian Dixon and wife Janie of Goodman, Mo.; stepbrother Gene Wheeler and wife Patricia of Barnsdall; nephew Kenny Jack Dixon of Irving, Texas and many more special nieces and nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents, step-brother Franke Wheeler and step-sister Teresa Allen.
