Obituary- Bowling

PRYOR, OK — Funeral services for Clara Faye Bowling, 82, Pryor, formerly of Chouteau, are Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2 p.m., at Key Funeral Home Chapel in Pryor. Burial will follow at Chouteau North Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Key Funeral Home in Pryor.

Bowling was born on July 18, 1931, in Chouteau to James Thomas and Lucy B. (Skinner) Ingle. She grew up and attended school in the Martha Brown Community in rural Chouteau then later attended Chouteau High School where she graduated in 1949.

She married L.D. Bowling on May 8, 1949, in Chouteau. They made their home in Chouteau for many years where they raised three daughters. She worked as the secretary for the Chouteau Mazie School System starting in 1966, retiring in 1994.

After retirement, she loved to travel. She took many trips over the years with friends and family, some by boat, some by bus and some driving trips too; among her favorite places were Alaska, Nova Scotia and Hawaii.

In her spare time, she enjoyed reading and studying her Bible. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Chouteau, but more recently was a member of New Beginnings Baptist Church in Chouteau. She was a very social and outgoing person, she loved getting together with friends and family just to visit and catch up on what was happening in their lives.

She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many and she will be missed by all who shared in her life.

She is survived by her husband L.D. of the home; three daughters, Carol Hanson of Pryor, Connie Jones and husband Danny of Tulsa and Lori Sampsel of Langley; six grandchildren, Kendall Hanson and wife Catie, Tabitha McLaughlin and husband Curtis, Sumathy Sampsel-Foreman, Jessica Secratt, Shane Hanson and wife Nadia and Michael Sampsel; seven great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Alex, Alexander, Ryan, Kairi, Cooper and Josh.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one sister.
