Obituary- Vivian Foster


— Vivian Madeline Foster  was born on May 15, 1932, in Locust Grove, to Earnest Coverdell and Rosa Ethel Alice (Luckinbill) Coverdell-Rosebud.  She died Jan 28, in Tulsa, at the age of 80.

Growing up, Foster attended schools at Cave Springs School near Locust Grove, as well as Locust Grove Public School. She was a member of the Twin Oaks Baptist Church in Wagoner, where she enjoyed church gatherings and fellowshipping. She also like to play a hand of cards or a round of dominoes.  She would often recap her victories of winning domino games by calling her family to brag. Over the years, she also enjoyed square dancing and water skiing. She had a fondness for collecting dishes and cooking.  

Foster is survived by: 2 daughters: Judy Jones and husband Rick of Oklahoma City, and Robin Rena Rathjen and husband James of Guthrie; 4 grand-daughters: Tiffany Jones Reffner of Costa Rica, Amanda Jones Morgan and husband Shon of Augasta, Kan., Jackie Ring of Ark., and Estey Bailey and husband Jeff of Oklahoma City; 4 grandsons: Travis Ring and wife Sara of Tulsa, Rowdy Ring and wife Jessica of Fort Riley, Kan., Beau Rathjen and wife Amber of Oklahoma City, and T.R. Rathjen and life partner Mark Bowlby of N.J.;10 great grandchildren;1 brother: Waco Coverdell and Kathy of Locust Grove; Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Foster was preceded in death by: her parents; 1 son: Ricky Glenn Ring; 2 brothers: Travis Coverdell and Sherman Coverdell; 2 sisters: Violet McFarland and Georgia Vann; as well as 2 infant brothers and 1 infant sister.

Funeral services were held 2 p.m., Thursday, Jan 31, at the Locust Grove Funeral Home Chapel.  Dr. Wes Graver officiated.  Interment followed at a later date.  Services were entrusted to the Locust Grove Funeral Home.
