Obituary- Panter

PRYOR, OK — Memorial services for Eunice Jo Panter, 85, Pryor, are Saturday, April 12,  at Key Funeral Home Chapel in Pryor.  Panter died Wednesday in Pryor after a car accident. Cremation arrangements and services are under the direction of Key Funeral Home in Pryor.

She was born  Oct. 16, 1928 in Blythville, Ark. to John Russell and Effie (Downs) Blaylock.

She grew up and attended school in Flagstaff, Ariz. She married John Dewey Panter on Dec. 24, 1946 in Flagstaff, Ariz. They made their home in Arizona and California for many years. In 1963, they moved their family to a small farm on a plot of land that was given to her family through the Cherokee Nation Indian allotment; it was located between Adair and Pryor. They raised their family at the farm and she worked as a seamstress at Fabricut in Pryor. She retired as a supervisor when she was in her 60’s.

Panter was known as a warrior by her family. She enjoyed spending time with her husband, kids and grandkids. She was raised in a Pentecostal home and raised her kids in the church.

Eunice was very creative and artsy; she was a  seamstress who enjoyed sewing for her family and friends, she made ceramics and dolls and was a good gardener and home decorator. She enjoyed cooking and baking and especially enjoyed traveling.

She also enjoyed shopping and garage sales.

She is survived by her daughter Glinda Willis and husband Vernon of Locust Grove; five grandkidss: Terry Silkey Jr, John Edgar Silkey, Casey Livingston, Jaque Martin and Michael Keith Martin; eight great-grandchildren:  J.D. Martin, Devon Still, Macey Livingston, Lance Livingston, Brady Lee Hubble, Ciera Silkey, Cailyn Silkey and Frankie Silkey; and three great-great grandchildren: Jordan Martin, Camden Martin and Karter Still.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two daughters Joy Panter and Joni Panter; and six siblings.
