Obituary- Woodcock


PRYOR, OK — Memorial services for Laura Woodcock, 81, are April 12, 1 p.m., at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Lawton. She died April 2 after a brief illness.

She was born Jan. 18, 1933, in Stuart, Neb., to Charles and Nellie Mulford where she lived until she graduated from high school. She attended Hastings College in Hastings, Neb., where she met her future husband Lawerence Woodcock. She graduated from college in 1954 and married Lawerence “Larry” on June 12, 1954.  They were married for 46 years and raised four children.

She was a school teacher for 35 years with classrooms ranging from kindergarten to high school. She loved teaching and was beloved by her students.

Family was very important to her and she spent as much time as possible visiting her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. They brought her much joy.

Woodcock was a lay leader in the Presbyterian Church and was very involved in various leadership and ministry roles. She spent many hours in personal devotions and prayer, taught Sunday School and small groups and also had the privilege to preach at several churches and retreats, most recently in Grandfield.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Nellie Mulford, husband Lawerence Woodcock, brothers Linden Mulford and William Mulford.

She is survived by brother Fred Mulford of Lincoln, Neb.; son Steven and Lisa Woodcock of Highland Village, Texas; daughter Julia and Kenneth Pierre of Fredericksburg, Va.; daughter Jeanie Everitt of Lawton; son Charles and Sveta Woodcock of Huntsville, Ala.; eleven grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; cousins, nieces, nephews and many, many friends.
