Obituary: Delores Theresa (Ladner) Hopkins

Delores Theresa (Ladner) Hopkins, 75, died in Grove Saturday.

Hopkins was born Oct. 22, 1936 in Pass Christian, Miss., to Orville and Mary Irene (Stigler) Ladner. Hopkins married Frankie Lee Arthur Hopkins on Nov. 3,1953 in Popular Ville, Miss. She was a housewife and spent her years raising her children, tending to her husband and children’s needs. She enjoyed her family and her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren were the most precious parts of her life. She made sure that all of her family was cared for. She was a faithful follower of the Lord where she served as a minister’s wife at the Adair Church of Christ for 45 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Frankie Lee Arthur Hopkins, one son, Kenneth Ray Hopkins, two sisters, Bea and Dianne, one daughter- in -law, Lori Hopkins, one brother-in-law, Robert Boice, and two nephews, Steven Hayward and Bobby Boice.

She is survived by one sister, Rosie McKaee and husband Junior of Biloxi, Miss; two sons Arthur L. Hopkins and wife Billie of Vinita, Earl G. Hopkins and wife Jean of Vinita; one daughter Patti King and husband Kenny of Eucha; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter along with a number of other family and friends.

Services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Grove Church of Christ with  Dee Meador, presiding. She will be laid to rest at the Eucha Cemetery next to the love of her life. The family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday at the Worley Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay. Family request that in lieu of flowers a donation be made in her name to the American Alzheimer’s Research Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Luginbuel Funeral Home.
