Obituary- Boston

PRYOR, OK — Funeral services for Mary Lynn (Winn) Boston are 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at the Adair United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Adair Cemetery. Pastor Dylan Ward and Matt Boston are officiating. Services are under the direction

of Stephens Memorial Chapel.  Boston died at her home Wednesday, Oct.  23, near Adair following a lengthy illness. 

Boston was born Jan. 17, 1928 in Elk City to William and Alma (Wright) Winn. Orphaned at a young age, she grew up with her grandparents, aunts and uncles. After graduating from Bethany High School, she moved to Pryor and met John W. Boston. They were married Dec. 2, 1947, in Pryor, and moved to his farm south of Adair. There she learned the life of a farmer.

She was a housewife and mother to their four children. She was a member of the Adair United Methodist Church in Adair and was the Methodist Youth Fellowship sponsor during her children’s teen years and a member of the United Methodist Women. Boston supported her children in their 4-H projects and was a charter member of the Better Homes Extension Club. The family was the Mayes County Farm Family of the Year in the mid-60’s.

Boston was talented in ceramics, porcelain, sewing, and needlework. She made hundreds of Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls.

Boston is survived by John, her husband of nearly sixty-six years; four children: Barbara (Duane) Fought, Pryor, Ellen (John) Huff, Adair, John (Becky) Boston, Adair, Philip, (Paula) Boston, Adair; eight grandchildren: Jimmie Lee Moody, Kai Hampton, Shelby Hampton, Matt Boston, Leslie Kemp, Jared Boston, Breanna Grubbs, Becky Best; and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister Betty Jo Stotts.

The family wishes to express special thanks and appreciation to caregivers Kamisha Yeatman, Shelia Whitaker, Amanda Ebers, Marjory Zachary, hospice nurses Pam Morgan and Becky Wenger.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.  Friday, Oct. 25, 2013 at Stephens Memorial Chapel.
