Funeral services for Donald Baker, 76, Pryor, are Friday, Feb 8, 2 p.m., at Stephens Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Donald Fails will officiate and burial will follow at Graham Memorial Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Stephens Memorial Chapel.
Baker was born Oct 29, 1936 in Wagoner to Charles and Ruble (Brown) Baker. He died Feb 3, in Pryor.
Baker had lived in Pryor for about the last 40 years; he moved here from Wagoner. He was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church and had been the pastor there for several years. He was married to Joann Penrod on Oct 26, 2007 in Pryor. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening, especially flowers. He always liked to be around family and friends and going to family gatherings. Baker was very much a people person and never met a stranger. He always enjoyed making people laugh and loved to wear funny hats that people gave him.
Baker is survived by wife Joann of the home, son Ronald Baker of Pryor, daughter Janet and husband Bob of Wagoner, Vicki and Connie both of Pryor, step-sons George Conn of Tulsa, James Conn of Arkansas, Joe Conn of San Martin, California, Paul Conn of Gill Roy, Calif, step-daughters Linda Whitlock of Pryor, Sondra Rice of Minn, Darla Isley of Tulsa, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, brother Charles Baker and wife Linda and sister Judy Epperson and husband Ken. He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife Rose Mary.
In lieu of other remembrances donations can be made to Relay For Life through Mayes County Cancer Support Group.
