Obituary- Ella B. Callison-Criswell


— Ella B. Callison-Criswell, Welch, died Feb. 2 at Integris Baptist Regional Health Center in Miami with her family at her side. She was 90.

Criswell was born June 18, 1922, in Oeneville, Texas to Charlie and Dorothea (Harms) Boehme. She attended Texas schools. She attended beauty college in Muskogee, receiving her cosmetology certificate. She ran a shop in her home for several years.

She married Howard Callison on Oct. 17, 1942. at Rosebud, Texas. They raised four sons, Wayne, Ernest, James and Charlie. Howard preceded her in death on July 29, 1966.

She later married Isaac B. “L.B.” Criswell on Sept. 1, 1967, in Pryor. They moved to Welch in 1975, where she was active in the community. She was an avid homemaker and enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening and talking with family and friends. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary of Welch #8542, Beta Sigma Pi, Welch and Vinita Senior Citizens, and Welch Christian Church.

L.B. preceded her in death on May 4, 2002. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two grandchildren and four brothers.

She is survived by four sons, Wayne Callison and wife Patty, Pryor, Ernest Callison and wife Jo of Welch, James Callison and wife Vickie, Goodlettsville, Tenn., Charlie Callison, Omaha, Neb.; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild on the way; two brothers, Edgar Boehme and Melvin Boehme, both of Temple, Texas; special friend, Dortha Scott, Claremore; and a host of friends.

Visitation is this evening, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Welch Christian Church.

Services are 1 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 6, at the Welch Christian Church with Minister Brad Canham officiating. Pallbearers are Roger Callison, Chuck Tullis, Todd Estendeback, Aaron Ward, Ryan Callison, Stephen Callison and Josh White. Honorary pallbearers are Bob Chambers, Ron Walker and Jacob Mount.

Interment will be at Bryan Chapel Cemetery east of Pryor.

The body will lie in state at the funeral home. The casket will be closed at 6 p.m. Tuesday prior to visitation at the church and will not be reopened.
