Obituary- Kaye Dickey

PRYOR — Memorial services for Kaye Dee Lamar Dickey, 70, Pryor, are Friday, at 1 p.m at Stephens Memorial Chapel. Pastor Rob Harris will officiate with services entrusted to Stephens Memorial Chapel.

Kaye Dee was born February 9, 1942 in Pryor to Raymond and Kay (Hampton) Harris.  

Dickey was a lifetime resident of Pryor.  She attended Pryor schools and graduated from Pryor High School with the class of 1960.  In 1943 she was named Little Miss Pryor.  In her teen and early adult years, she was active in the Pryor Round-Up Club rodeo circle and was a competitive barrel racer.  She served as alternate rodeo queen in 1954 and 1955, and  in 1961 she was named rodeo queen. She also enjoyed owning and showing horses.

As a teen she was very active in the Pryor Rainbow Girls organization.

Dickey was a former member of the Pryor Eastern Star #50 organization and had served as Worthy Matron in 1973. She was employed by Municipal Utility Board (MUB) since 1975, beginning her work in the downtown office.  She later moved to the warehouse and held the position of Assistant Purchasing Agent. Prior to that she worked at Whitaker State Home, Hadley’s Laundry and Venamon-Hardy Insurance. She proudly served as her class representative on the Pryor All-School Reunion Committee and always looked forward to every reunion. She was also an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Dickey always enjoyed hosting family get-togethers and her home-cooking will be missed. She liked to read, cook, listen to country music and collect Roy Rogers memorabilia.  She loved her family and her dogs.

She is survived by her sons Terry Lamar and wife Paige of Tulsa, Steve Lamar of Pryor, grandchildren Joel Lamar of Chouteau, Chelsea Lamar of Pryor, Shannon Ketcher of Claremore and Lily Wheeler of Tulsa, great-grandchildren, Shane and Dylan Ketcher both of Claremore, special cousin Jimmy Martin and family of Chouteau, daughter-in-law Melinda Lamar and a host of co-workers, relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents in 1971 and 1995, grandparents Russell and Edith Harris, DeWitt and Kate Hampton, infant twin sister Raye, father of her sons Harlan Lamar, Cousin Penny Martin and Aunt Betina McNeill.

In lieu of other remembrances donations can be made to the Pryor All-School Reunion Committee, PO Box 1444, Pryor, OK 74362 and/or the Pryor Public Library.
