Obituary: Rosa Leona Miller

Rosa Leona Miller was born on November 18, 1938, to Corneilus and Naomi Elizabeth (Holt) Scott, in Salina. She departed this life on Tuesday, February 28, 2012, in Claremore, at the age of 73.

Miller graduated from Salina High School, as a part of the class of 1956. Having been raised in Salina, she had lived in Pryor for some time. Miller made Locust Grove her home for the past 21 years. She had worked at Whitaker State as a juvenile transportation provider.  She worked at the Rogers County Jail as a cook, as well as at Horner’s Grocery, for several years. She was known for waitressing at Cook’s Restaurant, where she enjoyed taking care of her customers.

Miller enjoyed cooking for others. She was a member of the Lakeview Baptist Church in Salina. She loved to visit with her family and friends, and all knew that her three grandsons were the light of her life.

Miller is survived by one daughter, Debbie Ward and husband Joel of Claremore; three grandsons, Gabriel Ward, Nathan Ward, and Bedford Ward, all of Claremore; three sisters, Connie King of Pryor, Linda Shipley and husband Lee of Locust Grove, and Sharon Russell and husband Larry of Locust Grove; two brothers, John Scott and wife Dorothy of Claremore, and Larry Holloway and wife Retha of Salina; close friend, Robert Ortiz of Salina; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.

Miller was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Bobby Miller; four brothers, Donald Scott, Junior Scott, Jimmy Scott, and Lilbern “Smokey” Scott; two sisters, Wilma Sinor and Louise Crawford.

Funeral services are at 2 p.m., Saturday, at the Lakeview Baptist Church in Salina. Reverend Bobby Belew will officiate. Interment will follow at the Ross-Mayes Cemetery. Services have been entrusted to the Locust Grove Funeral Home. To leave thoughts, memories, or condolences visit
