Claremore — Rogers State University kicked off the season with “Holiday on the Hill” Tuesday. The Campus Activity Team, or CAT, is a student organization in charge of the event. CAT put in a minimum of 20 hours a week planning events like this one.

“We’ve been planning Holiday on the Hill in conjunction with president Rice’s office since October,” said Leah Asbury, CAT Logistics and Diversity Chair. “The official count is 24,000 lights, thanks to RSU’s amazing physical plant.”

In addition to the lighting ceremony, the event included a reading of “A Visit from Saint Nicholas” by RSU theater student Andrew Grimes. The RSU choir performed under the direction of Nancy Gill.

Homecoming King and Queen, Michael Blose and Natalie May, were the emcees. The homecoming prince and princess, Lucas Chuckluck and Jailee Williams, were in charge of officially turning on the lights.

Santa Claus and Hunter the Hillcat were both available for pictures.
