Getting back to an old-fashioned fun carnival

PRYOR, OK — Locust Grove Chamber of Commerce announced plans for a “bigger and better carnival” for the Locust Grove community in a special meeting March 25.

The idea is to return to the traditional times of pony and camel rides, old-fashioned photo booth, dunk tanks, duck pond and a ball game, in addition to more events.

“We will have talent from one of our locals  — Sam Cox Band, as well as Panther Holler Gunfighters, a pancake breakfast,  contest for the best Pioneer dress-up,  4-H Extension,  car bash with the Boy’s & Girl’s Club, an oldies car show and more which will be announced leading up to the community event.

“We just want to get the community more involved and make this a great weekend.  The kickoff will be Friday, May 9th. We will let everyone know more details once we have a concrete schedule,” said Chamber of Commerce President Wayne Perego.

“We will also have our Annual Chamber Banquet on April 3rd at the upper elementary school. The tickets are $10 a person or $125 for a reserved table of eight,” said Perego.

The tickets must be purchased in advance by April 2. There will be a special speaker and awards. Tickets may be purchased at Locust Grove Early Learning Center, Vickie’s Flower Station, Locust Grove Lumber and Dr. Collier’s office.
