Specials a good reason to shop local

PRYOR, OK — “Sales tax revenue builds streets, parks and buildings. It funds police departments and fire departments. Quality of life in a community depends on sales tax revenue,” said Pryor Mayor Jimmy Tramel.

American Express launched a campaign called “Shop Small,” now in its fourth year. The idea is to promote shopping in locally-owned small businesses.

“Of our sales tax, 3.65 percent stays local,” said Tramel.

In response, Black Friday and Shop Local Saturday sales and promotions are popping up all across the community.

Pryor's Scrapbook Bug is offering 20 percent off your entire purchase, 40 percent off the most expensive item, and will be open 8 a.m. until midnight

On Black Friday only, Ivan's Jewelry is offering 30 percent off in-stock yellow gold jewelry and 20 percent off in-stock white gold and sterling silver jewelry. The store will also be offering Christmas giveaways.

Robin's Nest Flowers and Gifts is offering 25 percent off all gifts purchased Friday through Dec. 7. Robin's Nest offers a variety of home décor, jewelry, purses and other unique gift items. Any pre-ordered grave blankets or cemetery silk flower arrangements will receive 15 percent off. The store is open 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturdays.

Select ornaments, jewelry and other items are buy one get one 50 percent off at Madalan's Hallmark of Pryor. The store will offer numerous other specials and promotions beginning Black Friday and lasting through the weekend.

Rhinestones and Ruffles is celebrating the holiday weekend by holding a drawing that results in a percentage off a total purchase.

Radio Shack is featuring 32GB flash drives for $7.99 and 36-packs of double or triple A batteries for $6.84. In addition they are offering special savings on headphones, Bluetooth speakers, notebooks/laptops and toys.

Tractor Supply Co. is opening early on Friday, 6 a.m., and will have store-wide sales including gun safes, air compressors, tools, toolboxes, stoves/furnaces, shoes and clothing and much more.
