PRYOR, OK —
More construction is scheduled to begin on Pryor streets.
At Tuesday’s meeting, Pryor City Council voted to add additional streets to the city-wide street repair project.
“We're within budget, so we're adding these streets to the project,” said Mayor Jimmy Tramel.
The streets being added are; Veyda Street from Southeast Fourteenth Street to Wilkerson Drive, Southeast Tenth Street from Vann Street to Thurman Street, Bedford Drive from Seventeenth Street to Lanternwick Lane and Lanternwick Lane from Southridge Drive to Surrey Drive.
The work is scheduled to begin immediately.
The council moved forward in the Whitaker Park renovation project. Members approved spending $38,500 to John Henzel for overlay on two outdoor basketball courts at Whitaker Park.
The overlay will be royal blue with National High School Federation playing lines.
Tramel having estimated this portion of the project to cost $20,000, said he did not expect the cost to be this high. When it came to a vote, council members Drew Stott, Ronnie Sharp and Leonard Barnes voted no. With the four remaining members voting yes, the item was approved.
Council members approved the expenditure of $15, 283.98 to Just Fence It for the installation of replacement fencing around the park volleyball court.
“We anticipated about $12,500 for this, but we forgot about the center dividing fence,” said Tramel, who said the expense will come out of the Capital Outlay fund.
Work on the park renovation is scheduled to begin within two weeks.
As a portion of Park Street is blocked off as part of the street repair project, drivers can look forward to more detours around the neighborhood.
