Salina plans spring and summer events

— Salina Chamber of Commerce met Thursday night and discussed several upcoming events for the organization.

First up is the annual Easter egg hunt, scheduled for Saturday, March 30. The hunt takes place at the football field.

Thousands of eggs will be placed on the field for eager hunters.

“We will have tons of prizes, including several bicycles,” Chamber Secretary Carol Woollard said.

There will be a concession stand on site. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the hunt begins at 11 a.m.

“We are selling raffle tickets now for a large flatscreen television,” Woollard said. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5 and can be purchased at participating businesses including Jiffy Stop, Lakeland Real Estate, Pig-N-Out and Lakeside Bank. The winning ticket will be drawn at the Easter egg hunt.

Salina’s Trader’s Day will the second Saturday and preceding Friday of every month beginning in April and running through October.

Trader’s Day is located at the park by the library. Free set up for vendors and overnight stay is permitted.

The annual July 4th carnival and fireworks display will be July 3 - 6, on the grounds of the Salina American Legion just over the bridge. The carnival will open nightly at 7 p.m. Armbands will be available each night.

Saturday, July 6, Pig-N-Out Drive-In will host a live outdoor concert featuring the Exit 412 Band. Music begins at 8:30 p.m.

The Independence Day Fireworks Display over Lake Hudson is hosted by the American Legion and the Salina Area Chamber of Commerce. It will begin at approximately 10 p.m., on Saturday, July 6, from the dike, as well as a barge on the water.
