A Pryor man was hit by train early Thursday morning.
At 5:23 a.m. Thursday, Pryor Police Department received a call from a train engineer stating that a man had been hit by a train near the intersection of Highway 69 and 49th Street.
According to police, the man had wandered onto the track. He was able to get up and walk roughly 200 feet north on Highway 69 before calling 911 on his cell phone.
The man was transported by life-flight to a Tulsa hospital. Officers say he suffered cuts and abrasions but that his condition is not being classified as critical. The man’s name has not been released but police confirm that he is a Pryor resident.
At this point it is unclear why the man was on the track but investigation is underway led by the Pryor Police Department.
Pryor Fire Department and Mayes Emergency Services Trust Authority responded to the scene as well.
