LOCUST GROVE, OK —
Pryor Times readers have voted Locust Grove sophomore quarterback Mason Fine as the 2013 Mayes County Football Player of the Year.
"I devote a lot of hours to this team," Fine said. "I'm in class, watching film or something, then I go out here and practice, I get some lifts in during the week. Even when I go home, I go home and eat and watch film there for an hour or more. I devote a lot of hours."
Fine's regular season numbers are staggering: a 63 percent completion rate, 2,413 yards and 27 touchdowns against 10 interceptions and a 10-0 record. The 2,413 yards were good for fourth in the state in any class and second in Class 3A behind Victory Christian's Keats Calhoon. He ranked second in the state in completions (191) and was tied with two other QBs for second in touchdowns.
Not too shabby for an underclassman.
