William Wilkerson was on the preliminary hearing sounding docket Thursday. His case was continued to March 28.
Wilkerson was charged with the first degree murder of his mother Nov. 20, in Rose. Wilkerson, 30, fatally stabbed his mother Susan Wilkerson, 57, at their shared home.
The motive allegedly was simply that he believed his mother was lying to him.
During the preliminary hearing, in Judge Rebecca Gore’s courtroom, Wilkerson kept his head down through the 50-plus cases on the docket ahead of him. When his name was spoken, he did not respond. While other inmates were looking around acknowledging their family members in the courtroom, Wilkerson kept his eyes downcast. His attorney requested conference with the judge after which she approached Wilkerson to discuss his case. Wilkerson raised his head and looked around the courtroom from that point forward.
Assistant District Attorney Marny Hill told Judge Gore that in this particular case she only anticipated two or three witnesses at which point the judge set the case for preliminary hearing March 28 at 9:30 a.m.
