The Elliott Street construction in Pryor, which began in July of 2012, had a projected completion date of April 1, 2013.
The date has come and gone, and road blocks are still in place.
Now, County Commissioner Darrell Yoder is estimating the road will be complete and reopened mid May.
The project included widening the street by two feet on each side and adding a 40-foot wide drainage ditch that will divert flood water to Pryor Creek.
The project, which is state funded, hit some snags along the way.
“The biggest time-eater has been the Tulsa waterline,” said Yoder. “We had to build box
culverts around each of them, so they’re encased in concrete. It took a lot more time than they anticipated.”
He said recent weather and change orders have slowed the project as well.
Discussion about changes being made to the intersection are still underway, but will not affect this project.
